Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET) is a premier Engineering institute of Alva's Education Foundation (AEF), established in the year 2008. It is an Autonomous institute under VTU. It has a lush green campus spread over 30 acres, a part of Alva's - Shobhavana, and 144 acres spread over a famous herbal garden with more than two thousand varieties of herbal plants. The vision of the institute is to impart quality technical education, moral values, social concern and patriotism to the students and mould them into excellent professionals and good citizens. Its mission is to set up a Center of Excellence by offering world−class technical education and research opportunities of a high standard and making the students ethically strong and technologically among the best. AIET is accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade.
The Institute of Industrial Nanomaterials (IINa) was established in April 2020 at Kumamoto University, Japan. IINa is a global research center that specializes in two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials including nanosheets, surfaces, and grain boundaries. The Institute has a comprehensive research facility to promote two-dimensional nanomaterial research, as well as special synthesis process facilities including an explosion experiment and bioelectrics research facilities of the formerly Institute of Pulsed Power Science (IPPS). These facilities are provided not only for on-campus faculty and students, but for researchers at companies and other universities as well.
Kumamoto University (KU) is one of the oldest universities in Japan founded in 1887 in Kumamoto City, which is nestled in the heart of Kyushu Island in Japan and stands as a beacon of academic excellence and cultural enrichment. KU is a Japanese national university. Its abbreviation is Kumadai. It was established in 1949 as a result of the education reform, by integrating various schools in Kumamoto City, including the former Fifth High School. It was formerly one of the six national universities. For over 100 years KU has been at the forefront in advancing science and technology, and contributing to local communities and to global society. Currently, the university is home to around 8,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students, including 462 international students from 46 countries.
Advanced materials joining techniques such as welding, brazing and soldering are critical components of manufacturing technology from large scale to micro and nano devices such as microelectronic, marine application, automobiles, aircraft, and medical devices. Numerous advanced techniques have been developed to join novel materials on a macro and miniature scale. The latest advanced methods in welding and joining help to achieve unique joint properties by joining complex structures or advanced materials, in terms of reductions in cost, to improve productivity as well as quality. Even advanced soldering and brazing technologies have attracted interest in recent years due to their ability to join dissimilar materials with defect-free. In the latest developments, joining related to shape memory alloys or high-entropy alloys also have been attempted and evaluated. The symposium on “Recent Advances in Materials Joining and Manufacturing Processes” aims to summarize recent advances in various types of welding, brazing and soldering, characterization of their interfaces in terms of microstructure, mechanical properties, corrosion performance, and additional properties. The symposium will comprise keynote, invited talks and oral presentations. It is believed that this symposium will provide a platform both for specialists and research students to present their latest results on their work. The main topic of the symposium includes, but is not limited to, explosive welding, friction stir welding, laser welding, robotic welding, TIG welding, MIG welding, arc welding, Pb−free soldering, brazing, micro joining, additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping and other relevant advanced techniques.
